In 1991, alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, united with a shared vision to honor the profound legacy of Professor Aroon Sorathesn —former Dean of Chula Engineering, former President of Chulalongkorn University, and former Minister of Industry. Renowned for his lifelong dedication to advancing engineering sciences for national development, his enduring impact inspired a movement of deep gratitude and public service.
Through the active mobilization of the Chulalongkorn Engineering Alumni Association—under the leadership of Dr. Anat Arphapirom (President) and Mr. Pongsak Jirachaiprawit (Secretary-General)—a successful fundraising campaign was launched, leading to the official establishment of the Aroon Sorathesn Foundation in 1992.

  จดทะเบียนเป็นนิติบุคคลเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2537 มีทุนจดทะเบียนเป็นเงิน 1,030.500.00 บาท (หนึ่งล้านสามหมื่นห้าร้อยบาทถ้วน) มีสถานที่ตั้งสำนักงานอยู่ที่สมาคมนิสิตเก่าจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ถนนพญาไท เขตปทุมวัน กรุงเทพฯ ปัจจุบันได้ขอย้ายมาที่คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และได้จัดหารายได้สมทบเข้ากองทุน “มูลนิธิ อรุณ สรเทศน์” มาโดยตลอดปัจจุบันมีกองทุนฯประมาณ 14 ล้านบาท
